Aqua America, Inc. is one of the nation’s largest U.S.-based, publicly-traded water utility, providing water and wastewater services to approximately 2.5 million residents in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Texas, New Jersey, Indiana, Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, Maine, Missouri, New York and South Carolina. Aqua America embarked on a successful growth-through-acquisition strategy in the early 1990s, which has resulted in more than 120 acquisitions and other growth ventures—more than 90 of which have been completed in the last five years. This growth strategy has allowed the company to achieve an annual customer growth rate of approximately four percent since 1995, and achieve record earnings and above average shareholder return while remaining a low-cost provider of quality drinking water.
